For those of you out there who don’t know who Tom McCutcheon is (and I can’t imagine there are many of you!), he is the owner of Tom McCutcheon Reining Horses, Inc. in Aubrey Texas. Tom has many accomplishments as a world class Reiner and $1 million dollar lifetime earner. He is also the Co-Founder and Chairman of the Board for the National Reining Breeders Classic, on the USEF Board of Directors, NRHA Professionals Committee Member, and a WEG Silver and Gold Medalist. And that only scratches the surface!
Saying that horses are a big part of Tom’s family is a huge understatement. His wife Mandy, is the first and only female million dollar rider, 5x NRHA Non-Pro Futurity Champion, 2008 NRHA Derby Non Pro Winner and Reserve Champion, and the list goes on. Son Cade is also a Derby Champion and SWRHA Short Stirrup Champion and it looks like he will follow closely behind in dad and mom’s shoes (or I guess boot’s is more appropriate)! And we also heard a rumor that daughter Carlee just got a new mini named Lady Bug! (Photo courtesy of Waltenberry)
Tom’s farm also has a full service Equine Rehabilitation Center and Spa that features Equissage, Aqua Tread, Air Conditioned Stalls, and Individual Turn Outs. If you are looking to rehab a horse after injury, or keep them mentally fresh and healthy, this is the place to be!

Matt Mills is a talented, young reiner who stands out as one of the few African-Americans riding as a professional trainer. Known for his mega-watt smile and charismatic personality, Matt runs his training operation out of Bobbie Cook’s OutWest Stallion Station and Performance Horses in Scottsdale, AZ where he trains horses and non pro riders and mentors assistant trainers.
Matt’s list of accomplishments includes a 2006 Win at the USEF Reining Championships with Easy Otie Whiz. This win secured his spot at the World Equestrian Games, winning Team Gold and Fourth individual with a 224.5. Most recently, Matt was an alternate for the 2008 FEI World Reining Championships and the 2008 High Roller Reining Classic Reserve Champion.
In addition to his busy days training, riding and competing, Matt also travels nationally and internationally hosting clinics throughout the year. I was lucky enough to sit in on one held at last year’s Equine Affaire, MA, and it was great! It was really amazing just how much the riders and horses were able to improve after just one session with him.
