I love the Kensington fly sheets because they’re so durable (they’ll last for years), but they rub the hair off the shoulders of my grey horse. I’ve used this sheet on 2 other horses and haven’t had that problem. It seems to fit OK, but the cut just causes a bunch of rubbing. Is there anything to do about that?

    • Sofia says:

You are correct about how durable the Kensington “Protective” Sheet is but it may not be because of the sheet but maybe your horse. You see, Maybe he is uncomfortable with the fit and just want to kinda rub the spots were it itches. Maybe it could be the way he is built or even when he is rolling or laying down.

      Hope my advice helped,
      Regards,
      Sofia

      • Julie says:

If the rubbing was anywhere else, I think you might be right. But since it’s on the shoulders, right in that place where blankets would rub, I think it’s the sheet and the way the neck is cut. It probably is related to how she’s built, and how sensitive her skin is, but none of her other blankets cause this problem. If I show sheen her shoulders and put on a shoulder guard, that helps, but the sheet sits in the tack room most of the time now.

I wish the Kensington blankets had a European cut to their neck that was higher (like the Rambos and Weatherbeetas) this style neck always slips on my horse and rubs his chest.

I’d like reviews from product testers, who decided these were the best? I read a magazine that test all that months products at various barns for several months in advance and then does a review. Great idea! I want to know that they work, I know you have reviews on your site but if you are using those as how you get the results maybe some comments about why for example the lettia coolmax lining works to keep your horse cool, or does it?

Also no mention on flysprays (natural and chemical), and the increasingly popular feed through fly control.

  3. Linnea Person says:

The Kensington fly boots are the best I have yet tried. Last year’s have 2 of the stays gone and a few holes, but at least at the end of the day they’re still on the horse! The Cashel Quiet ride was such a hit with my horse’s trainer she ordered a few for her own horses. I prefer them for daily use in this sweltering heat over the heavier grey one, which is great also!!
