A wise equestrian once said, “A rider can never have too many boots.” Ok, so we’re the ones who said that but still… you know it’s true! In a season when every design house puts out their version of a “riding” boot, we’re most excited about a few new boot styles from your favorite equestrian brands.
We first spied the Ariat Windermere with Baker Plaid at the January 2010 AETA Winter Trade Fair and have been dying to share them ever since. We love the concept of a black or brown (shown here) tall boot with all of Ariat’s comfort technology and stylish insets of the iconic Baker 5/A plaid fabric. There’s a sharp paddock boot version too!The Dubarry Carlow is nothing short of an instant classic, pairing handsome tweed (Gore-Tex treated, of course) with Dubarry’s signature leather boot. Available in Connemara Smoke (grey with lavendar) and Galway River (green with blue) plaid tweeds.
Meanwhile, two new equestrian style items are already in heavy rotation* here at Dappled Grey this November. Paired together or with other separates, we are loving:
The Ariat Lexi jacket (our choice) and vest are great lightweight insulating pieces with a perfect silhouette for wearing in the saddle, courtesy of the two vent zippers and faux belting in the back. We chose the brown houndstooth pattern, which has been fantastic at hiding dirt, but both are also available in black. The Horseware Newmarket socks come in a fun range of striped colors – we bought the black/red/gold and the ivory/blue/grey. Readers, these are great Fall socks for under $10 – tall length, nice stretch, and a thick footpad! Ahhhhh…
* in other words, we’re wearing these all the time!
