Ever since I’ve know what a horse was, (starting with patting the mounted police horse in Half Moon Bay, CA when I was really young), I’ve loved them. I started riding at the age of six. After years of lessons and cleaning stalls three days a week, my parents finally believed I was really serious, and they bought Lego for me. Lego loves to jump, and we have done a lot of competing in hunter/jumper shows throughout New England. Lately we’ve been focusing on some dressage, and he also loves trail riding and swimming. In the many years that I’ve owned Lego, he’s definitely taught me a lot about patience, the benefits of having a little horse with a spunky attitude, and how to keep my seat and be ready for anything.
At 24 years old, Lego is still going strong – we usually ride six days a week. Even though he’s not showing any joint issues, I support him with SmartFlex Senior because I want to keep him comfortable and active as long as possible. I also like that it has Vitamin C, a potent antioxidant many senior horses lack, as well as other immune and digestive support. I love that this in available in pellets, because Lego is very picky and this way I know he’s eating it!
As Lego has gotten older, he’s started having a harder time maintaining muscle in his topline. I love Tri-Amino because it has three key amino acids – Lysine, Methionine and Threonine. I noticed positive changes within the first month of using it. Paired with a regular riding program, it’s really helped him to rebuild his topline, and maintain muscle definition throughout his body.
I chose SmartOmega 3 for Lego because I think it’s a great all‐around supplement. It provides prebiotics, probiotics and digestive enzymes to support his digestive system. Through my equine health training at SmartPak, I’ve learned that grain is high in pro‐inflammatory Omega 6 fatty acids, and low in Omega 3s, which are generally considered anti‐inflammatory. I like that SmartOmega 3 helps me improve this ratio in his diet. Another aspect that benefits Lego, is the added Vitamins A and E in this product, as these two key nutrients tend to be the first to disappear once hay is cut and stacked.
I love knowing that Lego’s supplements are measured out exactly in SmartPaks. My younger siblings like to help feed sometimes, and SmartPaks ensure an accurate dose, no matter who’s feeding. Also, Lego and I like to spend as much time riding as possible, and having his supplements packaged in SmartPaks is a huge time‐saver!
