Pet food facts can be difficult to tease out of the adivtriseng hype that engulfs this multi-billion dollar industry. Some companies have taken a page from Shakespeare and insisted it was night when clearly the sun was shining, trying to sell corn as a viable protein worthy of being the main protein source in dog food. Is it any wonder people get confused? Lucy Postins, canine and equine nutritionist, founder and president of The Honest Kitchen, came by to talk about pet friendly Holiday recipes, and I took the opportunity of her expertise to get some facts straight from a nutritionist on pet food ingredients. With that settled, we moved on to the Holiday cheer! Christmas is coming in days, and you, dear listener, get a gift of two recipes from Lucy for tasty holiday meals you can make for your dog. Much of the food you re making for your festive meal can be used, prior to dressing it up for people with butter, sugar and marshmallows of course, so listen in and get the pet food facts you need to know. Also, I ll take this opportunity to remind not to feed cooked bones, which splinter, or ham or skin from any bird you may be roasting. Who needs a visit to the emergency room on Christmas? We ll have a quick interview with Lucy on her book in a couple of days, but if you think you d like to try cooking for your pet right now, Lucy s book Made Out of Love can be purchased here .
