Keeping up with the SmartPakers: Weekend Update – July 30, 2012

During the week, you know our life is no mystery: we are here working hard to make you happier and your horse healthier. But what do we do on the weekend, you ask? The mystery is finally revealed! Read about what SmartPakers did this past weekend and see if any of our adventures sound similar to yours…

“My past few weekends have been very busy, so this weekend I was glad to be able to relax and spend time with my horse. The bugs on the trails have been really bad, so I did some ringwork with my mare, which was a nice change of pace. Here is a picture of my mare, Ax, saying hello to Ellie, who is owned by fellow Smartpaker Melissa.” – Emily, Accounting

“Henry was visited by is Beagle Aunt Schon Reid. They enjoyed exploring the water front and watching the boats in the harbor. You can see by the second picture why we don’t let Aunt Schon baby sit little Henry. Let’s just say Schon may or may not want to test of theory of Henry tasting like a sausage dog. ” – Tierney, Customer Care

“This weekend my dad and husband made a lot of progress on the new back deck whey are building for me. 🙂 They have been working tirelessly for weekend after weekend on this project (you should have seen what it looked like before!) and now there is real progress to see and I can actually step on my new deck! Meanwhile, I spent most of the weekend inside, glued to my computer and television, watching and reporting on all of the Equestrian Olympic coverage going on in London. Go Team USA!” – Bekky, Marketing

“Last weekend instead of going to a horse show, I went to the All Breeds Jeep show with my boyfriend Mike. He is a Jeep enthusiast so it was a lot of fun to see all of the cool Jeeps. On our way down we stopped at Hickory Run State Park to check out the Boulder Field. I had never seen anything like it before and it was really neat to explore the park!” – Marisa, Customer Care

“Like most of my summer updates, this weekend’s adventures included another horse show with Witness. I am fortunate enough to have two weeks of “A” rated showing right in my barn’s back yard the Head of the Bay Classic. I got to cheer on lots of friends including SmartPak’s own Melissa Hamlet who came home with an awesome ribbon in a very challenging USHJA National Hunter Derby. Witness rolled out of bed and competed in the Adult Hunters and Ariat Medal. Witness and one of the incredibly talented Grazing Fields grooms Lolo partnered up for the highly competitive grooms class. Lolo had Witness polished to perfection and showcased his well-stocked grooming box. They came home with a great ribbon AND a cash prize! Witness finished off the weekend with first place in the M&S Adult Hunter Classic. He even won a cooler – gooooood boy!”
– Renee, Merchandising

“My fiancé and I did our first 5k this weekend, the Color Run aka The Happiest 5k on the Planet!”
– Amanda, Web Marketing

“Taken on our way to drop crab traps off the south coast of Norway with family. Believe it or not, this was taken at 1130pm!” – Paal, CEO

“This weekend I was able to spend some much needed time with my dog, PeeWee. He absolutely loves it when I have an opportunity to work from home because he too can embrace his inner SmartPaker J We were able to balance the weekend with some serious pool time which PeeWee enjoys quite a bit! He has his very own turtle! He loves floating around on Franklin! ” – Lindsey, Customer Care

“This weekend I visited the New Bedford Whaling Museum in New Bedford, MA with Matt and his parents. We learned all about the history of the whaling industry as well as Herman Melville’s take on it all, and got to check out a life size replica of a whaling boat, my favorite part of the museum.” – Michelle, Customer Care

“This weekend my fellow intern Jessica M. and I went to the Stoneleigh-Burnham horse trials. Jessica was my much-needed groom and was a huge help in the pouring rain! My five year old thoroughbred, Punch and I won second place in our beginner novice division despite the weather. We had to bring along all of our SmartPak gear to survive the stormy weekend, including our foam fingers! As you can see in the picture, Punch was too tired to be enthused about team USA riding their “big boy” dressage tests across the pond. He was simply ready to go home and get dry.” – Leigh, Customer Care

“Yesterday myself, Sara Ross, Nina, and Liz Cox did the New England Color Run – the Happiest 5K in the World!” – Laura, Customer Care

“I smoked a turkey. We recently bought a smoker and on Saturday I smoked a turkey. This is it pre-cook.”
– Matt, IT

“Things have finally cooled off in New England! Sunday’s weather was perfect for a dressage school on my horse, Diem, in preparation for our next event in August. Godzilla, the barn cat, and I also enjoyed reading the latest edition of SmartPak’s Supplement and Horse Care Guide and cheering on the Team USA eventers.”

Great pictures! Beauiful horses, interesting facts I’d never heard of in all the years I lived in Mass. And that is a lot! That rock field for one.
When and if I ever come back for a visit I will put in an order for grilled salmon, or even halibut…maybe a bit of both. What an outdooor “kitchen”
    Love, Mom
