Looking for Any Advice – Farrier says he feet are looking better but they just Grow So Slow.
Hi Shari, thanks for your question. First, we wanted to mention that proper blood flow to the hoof is just as important as good nutrition when it comes to hoof growth and health. Therefore we recommend making sure your horse gets sufficient activity and exercise in order to encourage his hooves to grow. Limiting activity by restricting turnout can actually inhibit hoof growth, so in general we would recommend trying to get your horse more turnout rather than keeping him inside. You may also want to consider a supplement such as SmartSox which helps to support normal vascularity to the hooves. We’ve included a link for this product below – best of luck!

Hi I know this is old, so not sure if I will get a response.
I have a 24 year old Quarter horse mare she is in great health except for one of her hoof walls. She wears shoes on her front feet and on her left front wall, I am pretty sure it is a seedy toe. It is a big crack from her toe to the middle of her hoof wall, a lot wider than I like it. What can I be doing to help get it healthy again. Thankfully she is not lame.
