Horse: Blazin Hot Romance (aka “Macy”)
Discipline: AQHA All-Around Events
I started riding when I was 5 and started my show career at open and 4H Shows showing huntseat. When I was in high school I showed in the Western and English all-around events on the quarter horse circuit. I then spent College riding and showing in reining and horsemanship on my college’s IHSA team.
Macy’s been my mom’s show partner for the last two years. After cheering my mom on at shows for the last few years I decided it was time to get back in the show ring! Macy and I teamed up for the first time this spring down in Virginia and haven’t looked back. We have been showing in the Western Pleasure, Showmanship, Horsemanship and Performance Halter Mares. She is also showing in the trail. Maybe someday I’ll be able to find my way around the trail pen and decide to give it a try!
Macy is young with no joint problems, so some people ask why she’s on a joint supplement. But I know that training and life as an all-around horse can put a lot of wear and tear on a horse’s joints. I hope that supporting her joints now with Cosequin Equine Powder will lead to a long and successful show career together.
Macy is in full training and she regularly travels long distances to shows. I know that both of these things can be really stressful for horses, so I chose SmartGut Pellets for gastric support. Macy can be a picky eater, but she eats every last one of these pellets (Believe me, I check!)
Macy is known to get nervous and worked up on the trailer on long trips and tends to take out her frustrations and nervousness on the horses riding besides her. As a result she gets a dose of SmartCalm Ultra Paste before each trailer ride. It helps to ease her nerves and keep her calm and safe on the trailer. I love that I don’t have to worry about it testing and I don’t have to feed the SmartCalm Ultra everyday as she is normally a very calm and collected horse.
Why Karen Uses SmartPaks
Macy is boarded at a large training barn with over 40 horses. As a result I choose to feed her supplements in SmartPaks so I have the comfort of knowing that she will get the correct supplements and dose no matter who is feeding them. I’m also not able to get to the barn as much as I would like so I love that my SmartPaks automatically ship to the barn for free on the Barn Saver Shipping day, so I never have to worry about reordering and Macy never runs out! SmartPaks also make it very convenient whenever we are on the road at shows. My barn just packs them in the trailer with the rest of the horses’ SmartPaks and I know they are very thankful that they aren’t lugging around big buckets of supplements each time they hit the road!
