Barn of the Month – Fox Lake Farm

Fox Lake Farm, Birmingham, Alabama

SmartPaks: 35
Owner/head trainer: Allison Majerick Black

Fox Lake Farm is a 35 stall training facility that sits on 35 acres in Birmingham, Alabama. We compete nationally on the A Circuit and specialize in hunter/jumpers, equitation and ponies. Allison Majerik Black, owner and head trainer, is a lifelong rider and USEF “r” Judge and takes riders to prestigious horse shows as Devon, The Pennsylvania National Horse Show, Washington International Horse Show, The National Horse Show, USEF Junior Hunter Finals, USEF Pony Finals, ASPCA Maclay Finals and Hunter Derby Finals. We also take young students to their first Alabama Hunter Jumper Association shows and even host about 4-5 shows at the farm each year. Our full lesson program and dynamic staff allows the farm to cater to every rider’s level.

In order to keep the horses feeling great and performing at the top of their game, we have incorporated a comprehensive supplement program into every single horse’s daily routine. With so many horses getting a variety of supplements each day, we spent years scooping buckets and making baggies of supplements before we turned to SmartPak in 2004. Feeding our supplements in daily dose SmartPaks has simplified life in the barn and on the road. Things are organized and the horses are getting exactly what they need every single day.

We make sure all of our horses receive daily support for joint, hoof, digestive, and skin/coat health, so SmartCombo Pellets is one of our favorite supplements. The formula includes the active ingredients from SmartFlex II Support, SmartHoof, SmartDigest and SmartShine. Because SmartPaks make it easy to customize each horse’s program, we can add additional supplements based on each horse’s unique needs. Another one of our favorite supplements is SmartLytes, which helps encourage drinking all year long. Eloise, Horse of the Year for the Small Junior Hunter Division in 2012, has SmartCombo Pellets, SmartLytes and SmartGut Pellets in her SmartPaks. For some of the horses in the lesson program, SmartFlex Senior Pellets have become a favorite.

SmartPaks have kept the feeding process simple and organized, the horses are thriving on their programs, and it’s incredibly easy to navigate and adjust as their needs change. And, with the Barn Saver Shipping Program, we get free weekly shipments straight to the barn, so we never have to worry about running to the tack store for fly spray, clipper blades, or a new helmet.

  1. Please help us with your support to incorporate a law protecting horses. We live in Milton, Ga. which portrays a horse logo for the city. For the past five years our horse, Liberty, has been the object of continued harassment and cruelty by a neighboring family. My son, Tim, has repeatedly requested audience before city council to present a law to no avail. The mayor stating they have a law on the books. Our wonderful horse is now 32 years old and spends most of her days on my back patio or hiding in the carport. She will not go to pasture unless I accompany her and stay by her side.
Please help us by reading this website. We are now placing full page ads in local newspapers trying to let people know what has happened and to garner support. The name of these publications are: Milton Herald, Forsyth Herald, Johns Creek Herald and the Revue & News which covers Alpharetta and Roswell.
    Thank you
    Mrs. Pat Enloe
ps Liberty has been shot with a paint ball gun, pellet gun, fire works thrown into pasture and at her, continued screaming and revving of ATV and motor bike engines.
