This past week SmartPaker Jen and I traveled down to Oklahoma for the second week of the AQHA Youth World Show in Oklahoma City. We had a great time and learned a lot too. I’m no stranger to the AQHA atmosphere but this time I had the chance to spend some time watching the cow horse divisions, which was new for me and definitely a lot different from the hunter shows I competed in growing up. I don’t know if you’ve ever taken the time to watch, but if you haven’t, you should!
Team SmartPak rider Teddy Johnson took a few minutes to teach me the basics about the Cutting division while he was helping to warm up the horses for the show.
We also had the chance to talk to some of the competitors. Butch Levell competed this year for the first time at the Youth World Finals. He competed on two horses in this division and placed in the top 10 on both of them! That SmartPak gift card that he won was put to good use toward SmartFlex for his hard working horses.
With our down time we played catch with Nelly who came over to visit during the day. Like any other Jack Russell Terrier, she had endless energy to play with anybody who would throw her ball!
