Sue Slaubaugh was the lucky winner of the win free entry in Team SmartPak rider Lynn Palm’s “Training with Natural Obstacles” Ride Well clinic, and an AQHA Trail Challenge, that we offered earlier this year. Today, she recapped the whole experience.
“I would first like to thank SmartPak and Lynn Palm for teaming up and giving someone an opportunity like this. I was the lucky winner of this incredible package.
When I arrived at Fox Grove Farm I was greeted by my fellow clinic participants, whom were all such lovely people. Our accommodations were amazing, and of course our hosts, Lynn, Cyril and Marie-Francis were the best!
Each day was filled with informative lectures followed by lessons on horseback and in hand. By the second day we tackled the obstacle course with our horses in hand and in the saddle. It was fun to watch ourselves and our horses gain so much confidence while maneuvering through the obstacles. Everyone that attended improved their horsemanship skills, and their bond with their horses. It was amazing to see the changes in everyone in just three days.
The morning of the AQHA Trail Challenge was filled with competitors practicing on the course. It was exciting to see how many people came to attend the challenge. There were three levels of competitions offered: beginner, intermediate and advanced. The AQHA Trail Challenge is open to all breeds, so it was exciting to see a variety of horses taking on the obstacle course. There was even a mule there! The end of year awards were also given out. Competitors that rode in the whole circuit for 2013 received some wonderful prizes, a belt buckle was given to the top advanced rider and some great gifts from SmartPak were given out to the rest of the winners. It was a great day, all competitors and the spectators seemed to be having a great time. I would recommend this Trail Challenge clinic to everyone and to all disciplines of riders.
Again thank you Lynn Palm and SmartPak. It was an experience I will never forget!”
