What better way to celebrate Newman being awarded the USDF All-Breeds 2013 Champion for Musical Freestyle (2nd Level) at the recent USDF Annual Convention than “Newman-O’s” and “Fig Newmans!”

What to do when Artic conditions (cold, wind, snow) arrive but five feisty horses still need exercise? Set up a jumping chute, that’s what! Our horses love coming into the indoor arena and working themselves through the variety of poles, cavaletti, and jumps that we set up for them. In fact, those waiting their turn to “play” can be heard whinnying, pawing, and generally making a ruckus as they jealously watch and listen to their buddy have a go at the chute. – Dr. Lydia Gray, Staff Veterinarian

This year I was lucky enough to spend the holidays with lots of family. Christmas was spent here in Massachusetts, and although we didn’t have a white Christmas, it was nice to be in New England for the holiday. Christmas week was spent watching lots of holiday movies, drinking gallons of hot cocoa, and lots of yummy cooking. For New Years we visited family down in Florida and avoided the massive snowstorm up North. Although it was not as warm as some years, we still enjoyed several trips to the local orange groves for orange ice cream, a trip to Venice Beach to look for sharks teeth (we found lots!!) and a kayaking adventure in the mangroves! – Claire G., IT

This weekend I had a blast enjoying fun in the snow and testing out my family’s new GoPro! My trainer’s super-cool horse know how to pull logs, tires, etc and so on Saturday he pulled us all around on a sled! His name is Ahug, and he’s a Belgian, QH, Bakshir Curly cross, and he was absolutely fantastic. I strapped the GoPro to myself and got some really cool video of pony sledding, including my wipeout at the end! On Sunday, I went snowshoeing with my boyfriend, Sam and dog, Rue. I love outdoor winter fun, so needless to say, it was a great weekend. – Casey F., Marketing

I was lucky enough to spend the holiday week at my parent’s in Connecticut! I had a great time catching up with friends and family, relaxing, and eating way too much! One of my favorite days was going up to Pinegrove Dude Ranch in Kerhonkson, NY to ride with a friend for the day. It was cold, but we saw lots of deer and I got to ride Beans, my favorite ranch horse! I then decided I should get a little bit of exercise and had a lesson on Jack (cute little buckskin!) and hiked with my parent’s dogs, Lexi and Brodi, at a local park. – Paige Z., Customer Care

We built a snowboarding jump in our back yard. We had a blast but think
Stout had even more fun.. He wouldn¹t stop jumping over it. – Kim P., IT

Over the holidays, I got a new roommate—one with four legs! I found him at our local feed store back home in Pennsylvania while I was home visiting for the holidays, and I he just had to come home with me. Last week we made the 6-hour drive back home from PA to MA, and Mr. Tiddles (name still pending) proved to be an expert traveler! He was quiet and calm the whole way there, and he enjoyed his snack when we stopped at a rest stop (that’s the picture of him munching hay in a box in the front seat of my car). He loves his new digs, and he spent a lot of time exploring my living room this weekend (he loves to hang out under the sofa when he gets tired of playing). – Lindsay B., Creative

Apparently I've been obsessed with horses since I was born, and I used to beg for pony rides on a regular basis. I started showing in 4-H, progressed to equitation and jumpers in high school and rode on the IHSA team in college where I also discovered the joys...
