After recently spending some time down in Wellington, it really has made me want to get back into the swing of things after our cold winter. Having the opportunity to travel to Wellington this winter was amazing. My favorite part, aside from the horse show and warm weather, was checking out all the trends and fashions from riders to horses and the tack shops at the show.
My favorite trend I came across was the vibrantly colored Lorenzini Original/Titanium Stirrups that were taking the jumper rings by storm. I was absolutely astonished how popular these Italian-made stirrups were and the multitude of color choices they came in. I find these stirrups to be extremely practical for an avid competitor as they are made of aluminum and titanium, two extremely light materials. Even though these are only appropriate for the jumper ring, the fact that they have fantastic grip and support through the uniquely balanced titanium footbed, they are superb for schooling as well.
Aside from the new trend of these colorful stirrups, it was fabulous to see the increase in popularity of the soft shell hunt coats and even shadbellys! RJ Classics has done a fantastic job at offering washable, soft shell coats for riders at all price points. Not only will this aid in comfort in the tack on hot show days (good bye wool coat!) the multiple trips to the dry cleaner will dwindle (hello convenience!) My favorite pick is the RJ Classics Washington Xtreme Soft Shell Show Coat — this certainly has been added to my show attire for the season!
Another great item that I don’t know how we have lived without are the Ice Fill Shirts offered by Tailored Sportsman and Kerrits. The Ice Fil technology makes these shirts fabulous for staying cool and fashionable in the tack.
Needless to say my eyes were opened to all the wonderful new trends in the equestrian world during my winter stay in Wellington, and this season I will be even more comfortable riding in the heat thanks to my new finds!
