In 2010, Team SmartPak reiner Tom McCutcheon and his mount Gunner’s Special Nite made history. Twice.
In addition to winning Individual and Team gold medals at the 2010 World Equestrian Games, this dynamic duo was the first reining horse and rider combo to win the coveted USEF Equestrian of the Year and USEF Horse of the Year honors.
Who’s Who
Tom McCutcheon is one of the biggest names in international reining. His career highlights include NRHA Lifetime earnings of over $1 million, co-founder and chairman of the board for the National Reining Breeders Classic, a USEF Board of Director and an NRHA Professionals Committee member. 2010 marked Tom’s third trip to the WEG, having been an alternate in 2006, and winning Team Gold and Individual Silver in 2002.
Tom owns and operates a world class training, showing, breeding and rehabilitation program out of his state-of- the-art facility, Tom McCutcheon Reining Horses in Aubrey, Texas.
Gunner’s Special Nite (aka “Bailey”) is a 2004 Sorrel AQHA & APHA Stallion, owned by Turnabout Farm. With over $235,000 in lifetime earnings, Bailey is one of the most decorated horses in the sport of reining. In addition to his WEG wins and USEF honors, the stallion was NRHA Futurity Open Reserve Champion and Intermediate Open Champion, and a top placer in multiple NRHA
and NRBC Open Derbies.
Formula for Success
Tom supports Bailey exclusively with SmartSupplements, SmartPak’s own brand of equine supplements.
“We ask a lot of our horses, so I like that SmartCombo Ultra targets their joints, hooves, digestion, skin and coat, all in one formula. SmartTendon has key ingredients to support Bailey’s tendons and ligaments, which undergo a lot of stress and strain. Finally, SmartMuscle Stamina helps ensure Bailey can finish every pattern strong, and bounce back quickly.”
Bailey’s SmartPak
“With a barn full of horses of all ages and in all levels of training, ‘one size fits all’ really doesn’t work for us. The SmartSupplements line has so many targeted formulas, it’s easy for us to build a supplement program that’s perfect for each individual horse.”
Way to go!!!! Congrats to both of you!
