Now that spring has finally arrived, I’m getting excited to hit the hunter ring with Sasha this show season. Here are my top picks for my show outfit this year:
RJ Classics Washington Xtreme Soft Shell Show Coat
My new go-to summer show coat is the RJ Classics Washington Xtreme Soft Shell Show Coat. This coat is my first-ever soft shell show coat, and I couldn’t believe how comfortable it was the first time I wore it. It has so many great features—the fabric is incredibly lightweight, the unconstructed interior allows for an unlimited range of motion, and the hidden zipper means that you never have to worry about gaps in between your buttons. Plus, it’s machine washable! You can’t beat the convenience of being able to toss your show coat in the washing machine instead of taking it the dry cleaner after every show.
Essex Classics Talent Yarn Shirt
My favorite show shirt is the Essex Classics Talent Yarn Shirt. This shirt is perfect for summer horse showing—it’s antibacterial, deodorizing, and moisture wicking; it has mesh ventilation panels on the underside of the sleeve to help keep you cool; it has UV sun protection to keep your skin safe; and its innovative nanotechnology helps reduce your body temperature. I also like the contrasting trim on the collar and sleeves—it gives the classic “boring” white show shirt a little flair. Now that we carry a bunch of different trim colors, I’m definitely going to have to buy one or two more for this show season.
Tailored Sportsman Trophy Hunter Breeches
I’ve turned into a little bit of a breeches hoarder in the past year. I don’t really need more pairs of breeches than the number of days I ride each week, but somehow my stack of breeches just keeps growing! I have a couple of pairs of the Tailored Sportsman Trophy Hunter that I save for showing. They’re super comfortable, have a nice wide waistband, and are lightweight, so they’re great for summer showing.
Tredstep Da Vinci Stretch Field Boot
The new Tredstep Da Vinci Stretch Field Boots are my pick for show boots this season. One of my favorite features is the stretch panel that goes down the back of the boots. They help ensure that you get a custom fit even if you’re in between calf sizes. I’ve been really impressed with the quality of Tredstep’s leather and even though I also wear my Tredsteps for everyday riding, they clean up great on show day.
Roeckl Chester Gloves
Roeckl Chester Gloves round out my horse show outfit. These gloves are a little pricey, but I love their close fit and great grip. Gloves have a tendency to disappear into the depths of my cubby, so I keep a pair of these gloves in my show trunk at all times—that way I know I’ll never have to horse show without my favorite gloves!
