It’s the most wonderful time of the year and I always feel that is especially true when you’re a horse person who needs to give your non-horse husband your holiday wish list! Here is what I’ll be sharing with him this year:
- A HORSE! Okay, so this is a bit of a cheat because I did just get a new horse, but I figured I’d start off with something that could be easily crossed off the list. Just to help motivate him for the next items! So, I introduce you all to my new friend and family member, Mr. Bojangles. He’s a rescue and will be heading home to New England right in time for the holidays!
2. SmartTherapy Products – Mr. Bojangles is believed to have had a bit of a hard-working life as an unraced Standardbred turned buggy horse, so it’s time to pamper him up while my vet, farrier, and I work together to fix all things that may need fixing. My top 3 items are:
- SmartTherapy Fleece and Mesh Sheet #32565 – to support any body discomfort he might have by increasing blood flow through his shoulders and back.
-
- SmartTherapy Mesh Neck Rug #32031 – I mean, if I get the sheet, I need the neck rug too, so Mr. Bojangles can get the full effect of the ThermoBalance™ fabric that will reflect his body heat back to him, letting him relax from poll to tail.
-
- SmartTherapy Quick Wraps #32038 – My standing wrap skills are a little rusty at best, and since it gets dark as soon as the sun rises, the Quick Wraps will be a speedier (and easier) option for me, while still providing therapeutic benefits!

3. Kamik Sienna HL Waterproof Winter Boot #32665 – I’ll be spending a lot of time at the barn this winter getting to know my new boy so warm feet are a definite must-have. I love Kamik boots, find they fit true to size, and know they will offer me the warmth and comfort I’m looking for. Plus, they are made in Canada, and Mr. Bojangles is originally from Canada, so it’s clearly meant to be that these boots make it under the Christmas tree.
4. Piper Trainer’s Coat by SmartPak #27975– No, I’m not a trainer, but I am a New England winter wuss so a long, cozy jacket for handwalking, grooming sessions, and treat giving is a must-have. I’ll be sizing up in this as, due to wuss-ness, I will be layering a lot underneath and I need total arm mobility for hugging my new horse…A LOT. I also love all three colors it comes in, so hubby can surprise me there! And did you see the front pockets? I’ll fit so many treats in them!
Of course, the greatest gift is that my family (including my new and old four-legged members) is together and healthy this year, so I feel incredibly lucky already. Really anything else besides that is just the icing on the cake. Or the mint in the German Minty Muffins #32505.
I hope this little list gave you some ideas for what you’d like for yourself, or if you’re stumped for gift ideas, what you could give to someone else. Is there anything on your list that you’re looking forward to this year?
