My mother says my first word was “horse,” but she’s not sure how that came about because I’m really the only one in my family with a passion for horses! I started riding when I was two and have been in the show pen since I was seven or eight. Since then, horses have taught me many lessons that have changed my life because I work in the mental health field and have always worked with at-risk children. Horses have made an invaluableimpact on my work because they’ve taught me patience, kindness, active listening, and how to look for body language in a struggling rider or child.
My current horse is named Zans Gone Hollywood and we call him Soren around the barn. I rescued his mother about 24 hours before she was due to ship to a kill auction, and he was a surprise that came after she arrived! Thirteen years later, he gets ridden in both Western and hunt seat classes and he loves showmanship, too.
I first found out about SmartPaks from a friend at the barn several years ago. I have used them for years now and have no intention of changing! They are easy to use, and I never have to worry about someone measuring scoops differently from me when they feed my boys. I also love the fact that when we show out of state, I can grab as many Paks as I need and just throw them in the show tote without having to worry about not bringing enough or having to haul around 10 pounds of supplement buckets!
Soren’s SmartPaks include SmartBug-Off Pellets, which have been a lifesaver for His Royal Highness! He is quite the diva and can hear a bug coming from a mile away, so I love that this formula helps deter bugs from landing on him. Along with SmartBug-Off Pellets, his SmartPaks include SmartCombo Senior Pellets. The joint support helps keep him comfortable, the digestive ingredients ensure that he digests his food properly, and the omegas keep his coat shiny and healthy.
