I absolutely love SmartPaks, they saved my horse. Elvis is an Irish Sport Horse imported from England. We did jumpers for several years until his ligament injury. We did stem cell surgery and he made a comeback for a year, however, he started going lame again and thus I turned him out to lush green pastures. Less than a year out at pasture he was diagnosed with chronic laminitis and was foundering. I was devastated. He is now 18 years old but I was not about to give up on him. I knew I could heal him and make him sound again. I immediately took him off the grass and I ordered $300 worth of supplements from SmartPak. I did not know what I was doing and I was probably overdoing it, but I didn't care.
On a side note, my horse is allergic to everything. I had battled hives with him for years and he had an allergy test to determine what he was allergic to. I realized right away that he was allergic to some of the ingredients. I had to quickly switch up some of the products.
He also was super picky and did not like any of the powders and at this point, I was starting to feel frustrated and at a loss of hope as a realized I had bought a bunch of product that he would not eat. However, I called SmartPak and the ladies that answered the phone were so nice and helpful. They immediately removed the products off my bill that he wouldn't eat and then we spent the next hour changing up the supplements to determine what he could have that didn't contain ingredients that he was allergic to. We updated his SmartPak to have SmartHoof Pellets, Smart Metabo-Lean Pellets, SmartEssentials Pellets, SmartLamina Pellets, and SmartStride Senior Pellets.
Within days, he started to feel better and had more energy and his spark came back, his energy was better, he was walking around, where before he barely would walk to me. I iced his hooves and legs every day, I gave him his SmartPaks and I monitored him. After 30 days, the vet came out to do X-rays to determine if there was any rotation. To our surprise, there was NONE! No rotation at all, the vet was shocked and said, "whatever you are doing, it is working and you are going to be able to ride him again."
After the vet visit, the farrier came out and put shoes back on. I have been legging him up for the past couple of weeks and he is doing great. He is happy and full of life. I am so happy that I started him on SmartPaks and I feel like I am going to have so much fun with him in his older years, letting him carry the kids around and being able to exercise him on the flat. And maybe some trail riding.
