I went to a boarding school that had a stable but I couldn’t afford to ride, and that’s when my longing for horses started. I’m now 71 and first started taking lessons when I turned 50 – after I paid the last college tuition check for my last child! From the relationships I’ve built to the challenge of learning to ride to the excitement and frustration that comes with it, everything about my time with horses has been so satisfying.
Up until about three years ago, I was competing in schooling horse trials, but then I sustained a brain hemorrhage from a fall while cantering in an indoor ring. I spent a year rehabbing at a therapeutic riding center and then returned to my home barn, Mystic Valley Hunt Club in Connecticut. The owner put me on Romeo and the love affair began! Last May, I was lucky enough to buy him. Romeo is a 16 hand Canadian Warmblood who has been there, done that. Besides giving me my horse life back, he also participates in the local high school and college riding programs.
Many folks at the barn are enthusiastic about SmartPak and suggested that I use your products. Last spring, I decided to start Romeo on SmartFlex Senior Pellets as part of an overall program to help keep him comfortable. He is now his old happy self again – forward, willing, and enjoying his work!
