Getting married is very exciting, yet very stressful. I have learned a lot about myself during this process as well as a lot about my fiancé and my family. While it can be a stressful time, there are many great…
“I’ve been lucky enough to own several horses over the years, and they’ve all been purchased here in the United States. This past year, I decided that I would really like to buy a young, green horse from Europe and have a fun project to work on. I started talking with my trainers about this a year ago in February 2012. I was leasing a really nice horse so I was in no hurry…”
Have you and your horse been together for what seems like forever? We asked the SmartPakers how long they have been with their horse(s) and asked them to share their fondest memories and photos together over the years. As you can see, our horses truly are our family members. How long have you and your horse been together? Leave us a note in the comments!
“Where to begin? Well, we arrived back on Friday night to a hazy, hot and humid Boston. It was not the most welcome greeting a city’s ever given me, and I’d like to think Boston would try a little harder, knowing I don’t truly consider it my hometown. (Even after living here nearly five years, when Londoners asked where I was from, my automatic response was “New York.” I truly do <3 that dirty town.)..."
As a non-rider (or extremely novice rider—you take your pick), I’m excited to finally have a story of my own to share on the SmartPak blog. We each had a longtime friend from New England getting married in Southern Montana—what are the odds?
During the week, you know our life is no mystery: we are here working hard to make you happier and your horse healthier. But what do we do on the weekend, you ask? The mystery is finally revealed! Read about what SmartPakers did this past weekend and see if any of our adventures sound similar to yours…

Bit of a changing of the guard happening today. The eventers are packing up and heading home and the show jumpers and dressage riders are getting ready to start chasing their Olympic dreams…
It had all come down to this – Day 4 of Olympic eventing competition – show jumping. Over the first three days, the horses and riders had been put through the paces in the dressage ring and out on the demanding cross country course. 15 riders had been eliminated on cross country day, and the remaining 53 horses and riders now had the chance to jump their way to team and individual medals…
I’ve had a lot of people (both non-riders and riders who aren’t familiar with every discipline) ask me why dressage happens twice, or if the equestrian events are over for the Olympics, since we’ve already seen dressage, cross country and show jumping. I can certainly understand the confusion, since there are a lot of shared names…
