After a day like today, it’s hard to know where to begin. But I guess I’ll stick with the tried and true method and start at the beginning. The beginning of today was actually last night, as I ended last night so far past exhausted that I forgot to set my alarm for the first time since college.

FACT: You cannot bring anything glass into Greenwich Park, but Foam Finger costumes are a-OK! This one you just have to watch for yourself, but we’ll just say we couldn’t have possibly had more fun handing out Foam Fingers…

Bit of a changing of the guard happening today. The eventers are packing up and heading home and the show jumpers and dressage riders are getting ready to start chasing their Olympic dreams…
It had all come down to this – Day 4 of Olympic eventing competition – show jumping. Over the first three days, the horses and riders had been put through the paces in the dressage ring and out on the demanding cross country course. 15 riders had been eliminated on cross country day, and the remaining 53 horses and riders now had the chance to jump their way to team and individual medals…
I’ve had a lot of people (both non-riders and riders who aren’t familiar with every discipline) ask me why dressage happens twice, or if the equestrian events are over for the Olympics, since we’ve already seen dressage, cross country and show jumping. I can certainly understand the confusion, since there are a lot of shared names…

I can’t believe it’s really and truly over. Eventing is done, the horses are already packed and out of the venue. While I’m beyond sad to see the eventers go, I do have some great news – Team USA Dressage had their first official jog this afternoon and Team USA Show Jumping has officially arrived…
